Reading-Students will read a variety of novels, short stories, poetry, plays, and essays. They will learn to appreciate figurative language and other literary techniques.

Listening, Speaking and Viewing

Students will learn to speak effectively about literature, important issues, and be able to support their statements.

Students will view plays, paintings, sculptures, videos, and other art forms. They will interpret and appreciate art through experience.

Students will hear different forms of literature and music. They will understand the evolution of these art forms over time, and how environment effects the artist's point-of-view.

Honor Code: Cheating is never tolerated! Students who copy another's homework, class work, or tests(including Accelerated Reading) will automatically receive a zero, and parents will be notified.

Students who plagerize from books, encyclopedias, or the Internet will receive a zero for the project.

* Binder-1 inch in size(only to be used for language arts)

* Dividers- 5 with labels

* Composition book

* Ample supply of notebook paper (to be refilled as needed)

* Pens: blue, black, and red (erasable ink preferred)

* Colored pencils

* Computers with Internet a plus, but not required.
